On behalf of the WaterClima LAC – Coastal Zones project, we are pleased to announce about the project workshop taking place on 24 November – 3 December 2015 at the Aldy Hotel in Aquin, Haiti and at the CATIE premises in Bajo Lempa in El Salvador organized by Fundación Chile (FCH), CATIE and Europe for Business (EFB). The main purpose of the two workshops is to engage researchers and stakeholders to identify and discuss the drivers, pressures, state and impacts on coastal zones and water resources, collecting information from several stakeholders to implement a conceptual model. Another purpose is to strengthen common regional dialogue on the integrated management of water resources and coastal zones. The outputs of workshop will help to frame and quantify the challenges facing in Aquin and San Luis du Sud, Haiti an in Bajo Lempa, El Salvador. Due to this reason the two workshops have been divided to different target audience. In both cases, the first day is dedicated to scientific society: universities, research centres, and independent environment consultants. The second day is called “Public services workshop” obtaining trainings and workshop for Ministries of Environment, Ministries of Tourism, Ministries of Economy. The last day “Civil organisations workshop” purpose is to validate the existing ecosystemic services. The WaterClima LAC – Coastal Zones consortia shares our experiences through group discussions to stimulate future cooperation and strengthens the development of capacities and networking.

WaterClima LAC – Coastal Zones team would hereby like to invite you to attend the international EIP Water Conference 2016 – “How is water innovation succeeding in Europe?” The Conference will be held on 10th February 2016 in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands and organized by the European Commission, with the support of Wetsus, Water Campus Leeuwarden, City of Leeuwarden, Province of Fryslân, Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment, VEWIN and Dutch Water Authorities.

EIP Water has taken a central role on the European water innovation landscape, providing a platform for collaboration of all actors in the field of water and innovation. Due to this reason the Conference main theme: “How is water innovation succeeding in Europe?” It is expected to foster innovation in the European water sector by showcasing the experience of innovators and the lessons they have learned. Participants are encouraging to share their ideas, discuss a variety of outspoken viewpoints about appropriate approaches to innovation as well as establish partnerships in water in Europe and beyond.

High-level representatives of the public and corporate water sector in Europe and beyond are the main target audiences of the EIP Water Conference 2016. Water managers, representatives of water authorities, innovation demanders from the private and public sector (cities, regions and EU Member States) also will be in the attendees list. Participants from other sectors are also encouraged to attend.

Date: several side events on 9th February 2016, the Conference on Wednesday, 10th February and side visits sponsored by the conference organizers on Thursday 11th February.

WaterClima LAC – Coastal Zones consortia would like to invite you to the 13th IWA Specialized Conference on Small Water and Wastewater Systems in Athens, Greece on 14-16 September 2016. George Tchobanoglous from the University of California Davis, Grietje Zeeman from Wageningen University and David Butler from Exeter University will be the invited speakers of the Conference. Zifu Li from University of Science and Technology, Beijing and Fabio Masi from IRIDRA will be plenary speakers of the Conference. Selected papers from the Conference Proceedings will be published in: Water Science & Technology, Water Science & Technology: Water Supply, Water Practice & Technology and Desalination and Water Treatment. PRESS RELEASE: 1st of December 2015

One of comprehensive WaterClima LAC – Coastal Zones consortia partners We&B presented the project in 3rd Conference on Strategic Innovation for Water Business organized by Catalan Water Partnership which took place on 24 November 2015 at the Barcelona Activa in Barcelona, Spain.
The event gathered more than 150 representatives of Catalan water related entities to discuss on the sector status at Catalonian level and how to foster innovation. During a RTD session, new projects and research results were presented to raise awareness on those existing initiatives, in this context the project WaterClima LAC – Coastal Zones gave a presentation focusing on the expected outcomes and the distribution of the project tasks at this stage.

On behalf of the WaterClima LAC-Coastal Zones project consortia, we are pleased to invite you to attend the 3rd Conference on Strategic Innovation for Water Business organized by Catalan Water Partnership taking place on 24 November 2015 at the Barcelona Activa in Barcelona, Spain. We are happy to announce that the WaterClima LAC-Coastal Zones project is going to be present by one of the comprehensive consortia partners – We&B during the conference.

The main purpose of the conference is to promote strategic thinking of all stakeholders in the value chain of the water business sector in Catalonia, as well as promote internationalization and innovation cluster.

More than 120 registered participants attended the conference last year with the aim of:

  • Promote awareness of the business opportunities in the water sector worldwide.
  • Encourage the development of cooperative projects and networking.
  • Understand the main policies relating to water and the R&D of the European dimension.
  • Share experience about innovation management.
  • Introduce technologies and innovative projects.
  • The WaterClima LAC-Coastal Zones project, which tries to increase the quality of life in Latin America and Caribbean as well as combat poverty and inequality by improving management of water recourses and coastal zone environments to achieve smart, sustainable and inclusive growth, will be presented during the R&D Session.
